Cook Rice In A Pot

Forget the rice cooker! Impress someone you know by cooking some rice in a pot! It's much simpler than you expect!

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 Cup White Rice
  • Water

Instructions
 

  • Pour rice into pot and give the rice a good wash. (Tip: Save the rice water to water plants!) 
  • Fill pot with water, up to about 3/4 inch above the rice.
  • Put the pot on the stove, lid on, for about 10 minutes in medium heat.
  • Once the water starts to boil, take the lid off and boil for about 5 minutes, until there is no longer water on top of the rice.
  • Cover the pot with the lid and and put is on very low heat for 15 minutes. (Be sure to keep an eye on the pot to make sure the water does not boil over.)
  • That's it! Your rice is ready. If you would like to make fan jiu, turn the heat on medium and boil for 1 minute, to harden the bottom layer of the rice. Swoop out all the rice and pour some water or soup to soak your fan jiu for 5 minutes. Time to eat!
